Job Description:

Provides professional optometric care, treatment, and services to DOD healthcare beneficiaries, and manages the occupational vision program at an Air Force Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) using professional standards of care and practice protocols or evidence based guidelines. Clinical duties include examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases, disorders and injury of the visual system, the eye, and associated structures, as well as diagnosis of related systemic conditions utilizing refractive, pharmaceutical, rehabilitative (spectacles, contact lens, low vision, binocular vision), minor treatment procedures and ordering diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies. When appropriate, performs consultations with physicians and others to augment the care of patients and provide referral to appropriate health care providers of patients with medical, surgical, psychiatric, and rehabilitative conditions. Performs a primary role in the visual readiness and optimization of active duty personnel for both expeditionary and home-station mission accomplishment. Develops and provides guidance, methods, and procedures for personnel engaged in eye-hazardous duties and environments for sight conservation and vision protection. Ensures active duty personnel are visually qualified and prepared for routine duties, deployment, and all forms of operational missions. Ensures appropriate follow-up and documentation of all clinical and diagnostic procedures using the DOD Electronic Medical Record. Manages resources in a cost effective manner by participating in performance improvement efforts and maintains professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

Qualifications:

- Doctorate in Optometry or being on last year of O.D. degree
- Current therapeutic license to practice Optometry in a State or territory of the U.S. or District of Columbia.
- Be a US Citizen
- <42 years old
