Job Description
Overview
Under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Optometrist will be responsible for treating eye diseases, disorders and injuries in compliance with all applicable optometrist standards, state and federal rules and regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of accredited Optometrist school.
Experience:
- Previous correctional/detention facility experience
- One years’ experience
Licenses/Certifications:
- Unrestricted current Optometrist license in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
- Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA
Responsibilities
- Perform standard eye exams for persons served
- Check for evidence of disease, injury, or other problems impacting vision
- Provide prescriptions for corrective lenses as needed
- Listen to and address persons served questions and concerns
