Job Description

Overview

Our Optician provides optometry service to patient patients and provides required documentation of services to the HSA or designee in accordance with The Company contract. Notifies HSA or designee of schedule changes in schedule coverage. Abides by the security regulations of the DOC and the regulations of the institution to which assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree or a certificate from a community college or technical school is preferred

Experience:

  • One (1) or more years of experience in general optometry

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current licensure as required by the state
  • Current CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  1. Reports to assigned facility at designated hour to examine, supervise and provide vision care/treatment to referred patients. Evaluates and treats patients referred by other clinical personnel in accordance with The Company guidelines.
  2. Refers to other clinical providers as appropriate.
  3. Ensures progress note documentation is in SOAP format, problem oriented, legible and is dated, timed and signed.
  4. Maintains current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification on file.
  5. Supports standards of correctional vision care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
