Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Overview:

  • Provide full spectrum of occupational rehabilitative services under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.
  • Use assessment tools, intervention techniques and treatment modalities under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.
  • Use complex/multi-step instructions with patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals and adapt those instructions according to the learning styles of the trainees or individuals receiving the instructions.
  • Identify, recommend and fabricate, as needed, complex adaptive and assistive devices, durable medical equipment and complex dynamic splinting, after consultation with the occupational therapist.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Qualifications:

  • BLS by American Heart Association
  • Associates Degree for Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Graduate from a college or university accredited at the time of graduation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
  • Certification: National Board of Certified Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • One year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant after graduation.
  • License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant.
