Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team in a full-time role. This position offers stability, a supportive work environment, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced Occupational Therapists to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities:

Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting patient evaluations and assessments to determine functional status and develop treatment plans.

Implement individualized treatment programs designed to improve patients’ ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and fine motor skills.

Provide therapeutic interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities.

Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment to enhance independence and overall function.

Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and responses to treatment interventions.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of progress notes, treatment sessions, and discharge summaries.
Requirements:

Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in Alabama.

CPR certification (BLS).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a healthcare setting, especially rehabilitation or skilled nursing.

Familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid regulations related to occupational therapy services.

Specialized training or certifications in geriatrics, pediatrics, neurorehabilitation, or related areas.
Working Conditions:

Full-time position with a consistent weekly schedule.

May include occasional weekend or holiday shifts depending on department needs.
