Occupational Therapist Job Overview:

  • Assigned to the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PH/TBI) Division within the Behavioral Health Department. The HCW shall provide services within the scope of their competencies and clinical privileges as granted by the Commanding Officer, and the applicable duties provided in the basic contract, and the following:
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures on site in support of patient referrals from one or more of the following specialties: Orthopedics, General Medicine and Surgery, Primary Care Clinic, Neurology, Rheumatology, and other referrals as assigned.
  • Provide assessment and treatment of wound scar management edema control; pain control sensory reduction; range of motion and strengthening exercise; Dexterity and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training; orthotic fabrication and training work capacity and conditioning.
  • Evaluate and establish written treatment goals/plans, and apply treatment for patients with closed head-injury, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), progressive central nervous system disorders, amputations, burns, joint replacements, limb deformities, arthritis, and fractures.
  • Verify the content and correctness of all prepared and transcribed reports within two working days by affixing an original signature to all copies of the document and validating its content or by computer input as appropriate.
  • Implement training materials including outcomes that can be evaluated by research. Prepare educational and informational materials in alternative formats for patients with disabilities.
  • Work in collaboration with Speech Therapists as well as other health care professionals from a variety of departments and services to determine OT needs for patients. Patient population will include (but not limited to) those individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI), all disabilities associated with or concomitant to TBI, Psychological Health conditions, amputations (of any extremity or hand/digits), burns, hearing loss, visual acuity deficits, war related injuries, and other injuries incurred while a member of the DoD.

Occupational Therapist Job Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy

    Graduate from a program in occupational therapy accredited at the time of graduation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organization, to include an internship prescribed by the education institution.

    Certified in occupational therapy through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

    Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy. Any US state.

  • 1 year experience within the last two years.

Position contingent on contract award with an anticipated Fall start date.
