Occupational Therapist Job Overview:

  • Provide full spectrum of occupational therapy services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges
  • Evaluate and treat deficits in occupational performance components that include motor, neuro-musculoskeletal, cognitive, social, and psychological dysfunction.
  • Provide assessment, education, and training in the areas of health promotion and disease/injury prevention, to include prevention of psychological dysfunction and stress management.
  • Administer and interpret occupational therapy assessment and evaluation tools.
  • Interpret evaluation findings to develop and coordinate intervention plans, including goals and methods to achieve stated goals.
  • Implement the intervention plans directly or in collaboration with others.
  • Monitor the individual's response to interventions and modify treatment plan and reevaluate as necessary.
  • Communicate and/or collaborate with the patients, family members, caregivers, interdisciplinary professionals or other individuals verbally and in writing.
  • Provide supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants.
  • Conduct interview intake sessions with parents/caregiver providing a supportive relationship
  • Connect families to additional services
  • Administer established assessments such as FEAS, CARS, Greenspan Social and Emotional Growth Chart and Reel.
  • Develop PLAY program plan and curriculum for use by parents in the parent-mediated approach and look for opportunities to apply techniques, principles, and methods.
  • Conduct follow up assessments to document progress and prepare video and written feedback

Occupational Therapist Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • Masters, or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy institution.
  • Possess credentials appropriate for prescription of physical agent modalities in treatment of various musculoskeletal disorders
  • Two years of experience in the area of inpatient and/or outpatient hand therapy and physical disabilities.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience within the last three years working with toddlers and or preschool children with autism spectrum disorders and early intervention theories and practices.
  • Ability to work with client population encompassing a diversity of socioeconomic, cultural, gender-identity, and various backgrounds.
  • Certified in occupational therapy through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy
  • Attend and complete the formal learning process of the PLAY Project (PLAY and Language for Autistic Youngsters) principles, methods, and techniques to include the 7 Circles of the PLAY Project.
