JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist administers radioactive materials in order to perform imaging and dynamic function studies necessary to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. Prepares radioactive isotopes, operates Nuclear Imaging and performs a variety of nuclear tests. Complies with performance measures/activities to assure that patient/customer satisfaction results are consistently maintained. Complies with and participates in maintaining an environment which supports our philosophy, mission and values.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from a formal Nuclear Medicine program approved by ARRT or NMTCB
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist necessary to enhance and develop skills
  • Possesses and maintains ARRT(N) or NMTCB
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and nuclear techniques, procedures and equipment such as planar imaging, S.P.E.C.T. imaging, nuclear cardiology and computer processing
  • Demonstrates mature judgment and the ability to make appropriate decisions with a minimum of supervision
  • Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality with regard to the operation and interaction of the department and the hospital

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a private/not-for-profit facility. We are a Level II Trauma Center licensed for 325 beds, operating at 230. We average 12,714 inpatient admissions with 78,119 outpatients and 30,574 emergency room visits per year. Our departments include an 18-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, 8-bed cardiac ICU, 18-bed ER, 1,308 annual deliveries in our OB unit, 12-room NICU, 5 cath labs, performing 435 open heart surgeries per year in our Aspirus Heart & Vascular Institute.
