Job Description
Types of procedures required. Provides support to Mohs surgeon. This includes accurately preparing and processing histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation and review by the Mohs surgeon. Maintains appropriate quality controls, and ensures the department is operating in accordance with all standards set forth by OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. Preparation of Tissue for Mohs procedures including using cryostat for freezing and layering, staining of slides, preparation of slide, ensuring epidermis is on slide; keeping all logs and manuals as well as equipment according to CLIA standards. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. Healthconnect Medical Record, Crysotat, Automatic or Manual stainer, Microscope Required skills and minimum years of experience. Mohs Procedure Experience; Duties and Responsibilities 1. Processes, embeds, cuts and stains quality frozen tissue specimens. 2. Performs and documents tests in compliance with quality control procedures and established parameters and standards. 3. Maintains appropriate quality controls, and ensures the department is operating in accordance with all standards set forth by OSHA, CLIA and other regulatory agencies. 4. Maintains histology equipment in good working order and troubleshoots equipment problems. 5. Works with the Mohs surgeon to resolve quality control, patient, or procedural problems. 6. Orders supplies related to the defined area. 7. Cross trains appropriate staff on job duties. 8. Consistently follows policies, procedures, and protocols at KP. 9. Maintains an extremely high level of confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines. 10. Responsible for delivering a high level of customer service in all in interactions with patients, providers, employees, vendors, and guests. 11. Assists in meeting and exceeding individual, team and organizational goals. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. 13. Maintains yearly competencies. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification preferred. Current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers required.
- Target Start Date: 9/10/2018
- Monday to Friday from 0800AM-4:30PM.

- ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification preferred
- Current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers required.
