The Laboratory Technical Specialist is a professional Medical Technologist who, in coordination with lab leadership, assumes the daily responsibility for technical operation of the section. He/She assists lab leadership in evaluation, development and implementation of test methods and in maintaining section procedures and policies to meet all regulatory and accreditation standards. This position is a member of the leadership team and will work with the regional labs in assisting with hematology and coagulation duties. 3 desk days are allotted per pay period.
The Lab Technical Specialist provides technical expertise in the use, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the instrumentation and test procedures of the section. The position requires ongoing commitment to upgrading of job skills and knowledge of current acceptable laboratory practice and theory in the area of technical specialty or specialties. He/She performs routine and specialized procedures as a medical technologist as necessary.
This position has varied shift options available with every third weekend and two holidays per year. Call time is applicable.
- Knowledge of laboratory standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related science, or equivalent
- A Master's Degree and/or specialty certification, e.g., SBB, SH, etc., beneficial
- Possesses active Medical Technology/Medical Lab Technology (MT/MLT) ASCP or CLS-NCA certification
- A minimum of four years' experience as a Medical Technologist under a qualified Medical Director, with at least one year in area of specialty necessary to enhance and develop skills

Our departments include an 18-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, 8-bed cardiac ICU, 18-bed ER, 1,308 annual deliveries in our OB unit, 12-room NICU, 5 cath labs, performing 435 open heart surgeries per year in our Aspirus Heart & Vascular Institute.
Other units/departments include, Aspirus Regional Cancer Center, Aspirus Spine & Neurosciences Institute, Day Surgery, GI Center, Ortho/Neuro, Medical/Pediatrics, RT, and Rehab.
