Job Description

Seeking a Full Time certified Medical Laboratory Technologist to join a great team in southern Alabama.

This is a great location near the Alabama/ Florida border. This is a full time permanent position offering full benefits.


Job Title: Medical Technologist

Department: Laboratory

Shift: Full Time, 2nd shift

Position Purpose and Scope of Responsibility:

Utilizes professional application of the principles, theories and techniques of Medical Technology to
provide accurate and reliable laboratory test results to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Position works under general supervision. This position is responsible for various shifts and may be
subject to over 40 hours per week and callback as required.

Principal Accountabilities:

-Contributes to high quality patient care by processing samples and performing tests in accordance with established policies and procedures.

-Carries out and documents quality control/quality assurance procedures to ensure delivery of high- quality patient care that meets regulatory requirements.

-Ensures accurate testing results by operating and maintaining equipment according to established protocols.

-Facilitates appropriate patient care by communicating with physician and/or nurses about laboratory findings, timing and availability of test results or procedures.

-Considers the age appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and environmental needs of patient/family in a systematic manner, as appropriate.

-Ensures accurate patient medical records by reporting testing results using established protocols.



Minimum Qualifications Desired Qualifications

-Knowledge/Education Working knowledge of clinical lab procedures

-B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or B.S. Degree a biological science

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

Registry eligibility:
MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), MLS(ASCP),
or specialist ASCP approved certification preferred within one year of employment
