JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Technologist performs laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Demonstrates the ability to maintain equipment and records, and to perform quality assurance activities related to test performance. Functions as an educator, shift leader or researcher within the clinical laboratory as needed. All individuals in this job classification meet the qualifications necessary to perform highly complex testing as defined by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment of 1988.
This position is located at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI. MT, MLT or MLS will be considered for this role.

EDUCATION

• Knowledge of laboratory standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field

EXPERIENCE

• Previous applicable experience beneficial

REQUIRED

• Possesses active Medical Technology (MT-ASCP) or CLS-NCA certification, or attains within 6 months of hire

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a private/not-for-profit facility. We are a Level II Trauma Center licensed for 325 beds, operating at 230. We average 12,714 inpatient admissions with 78,119 outpatients and 30,574 emergency room visits per year. Our departments include an 18-bed Medical/Surgical ICU, 8-bed cardiac ICU, 18-bed ER, 1,308 annual deliveries in our OB unit, 12-room NICU, 5 cath labs, performing 435 open heart surgeries per year in our Aspirus Heart & Vascular Institute.

Wausau is located in the lovely Wisconsin River valley at the center of the state. We have a metro area population of 80,000 with excellent schools, busy performing arts center, large private music conservatory, and visual arts center. Quiet residential neighborhoods surround Lake Wausau and overlook the Wisconsin River or have views of Rib Mountain State Park.
