Job Description
Full-time Medical Technologist, Chemistry needed at a great hospital in Western New York!
(2nd or 3rd shift available!)
The work involves performing a variety of general and specialized chemistry tests in a clinical laboratory. This is technical laboratory work involving the performance of diagnostic tests. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher ranking technical employee who assigns and reviews work for
conformance with established procedures. Does related work as required.
-Sets up, adjusts, cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments
-Performs routine and special chemical tests involving clinical or nutritional samples
-Maintains records and prepares reports related to laboratory work in clinical chemistry
-Conducts diagnostic tests in the fields of biochemistry, endocrinology, toxicology and urinalysis
-Collects specimens from patients which may include phlebotomy
-Prepares reagents, solvents, solutions, standards, stains, electrophoresis media, or slides for analysis
Requirements:
-Good knowledge of chemistry; good knowledge of laboratory techniques, terminology and equipment as related to clinical laboratory; good knowledge of safety precautions commonly employed in handling dangerous samples, reagents or laboratory equipment; ability to follow both oral and written instruction; ability to perform laboratory tests with a high degree of accuracy and judgment; industry; dependability; physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology, Medical Technology or related title which meets the standards set forth in Title 8, Article 165 of New York State's Education Law and Subpart 79-13 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education; or:
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or other relevant discipline which included 20 semester credit hours of chemistry supplemented by one (1) year of experience in a clinical laboratory; or:
C) Possession of a license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist as issued by the New York State Education Department.
