Medical Technologist - Clinical Laboratory Scientist - (Med Tech - MT - CLS)
StartDate: 09/10/2018Pay Rate: $31.00 - 36.00

SHIFT: Day Shift 7 on 7 off

Required Qualifications
LAB MANAGER POSITION. 4+ years of experience. Education: B.S. degree from and accredited institution plus completion of a one-year internship in Medical Technology. Experience: Minimum of four years' experience as a Medical Technologist working as a generalist. Qualifying as testing personnel under CLIA Sec 493.1489(b)(2) and have a minimum of four years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity training. Must demonstrate ability to handle specific problems tactfully and diplomatically. License or Certification: Current CA License; also preferably certified by another nationally recognized certifying agency. Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written forms using the English language. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, patients, physicians, peers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Serves patients by providing medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products, and services. Is directly responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the flow of work within the laboratory so that quality and efficiency are performed at the highest level. Maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by: oEnsuring that staff are trained and monitored for the proper usage of laboratory equipment oArranging for equipment replacement, service, and maintenance as needed Maintains medical laboratory supplies inventory by: oChecking stock to determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies oPlaces orders and verifies receipt of supplies Maintains quality assurance by: oDeveloping and monitoring QA policies and procedures for the department oAssuring that corrective actions are implemented when test systems deviate from established performance specifications oParticipates in hospital-wide monthly QA meeting and provides department information/updates as necessary oGenerates reports and maintains department records Coordinates customer services by: oReceiving, processing, and documenting verbal and fax orders oEstablishing rapport with customers and properly recording customer information. oProviding specimen collection instructions to customers when needed. o Answering questions and providing information. oCommunicating with physicians and nurses to verify clarity of orders. 2. Maintains laboratory operations by: o Enforcing program and operational procedures. oReviewing orders and troubleshooting where needed. o Generating reports/documentation according to established protocols. o Prioritizing specimen processing and preparing specimens. o Blood banking required 3. Maintains production and quality by: o Observing machine operations, detecting malfunctions and making necessary adjustments. oNotifying laboratory manager of needed repairs, supplies or other related problems that may arise. oFollowing organization standards and legal regulations. Develops staff by: oAssisting in training and orienting new employees. oAssisting laboratory manger in implementing new and existing procedures oOther duties as assigned o Must be able to do blood draws when phlebotomist is not working.
