Job Description
A respected acute care hospital in Vermont is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist II / Point-of-Care Coordinator to join its laboratory team.
This position works 80 hours bi-weekly, with hours primarily scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Flexibility may be required for varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.
Position Overview
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II / Point-of-Care Coordinator functions as a generalist across all laboratory sections while providing advanced technical and administrative oversight of point-of-care testing performed throughout the hospital and at hospital-owned practices.
This position is responsible for ensuring that point-of-care testing is performed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable quality, regulatory, and accreditation standards. A strong understanding of laboratory principles and point-of-care testing is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee point-of-care testing performed within the hospital and affiliated practices
- Maintain point-of-care instruments and testing systems
- Monitor quality control and implement corrective actions when needed
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Train and assess the competency of non-laboratory personnel performing CLIA-waived and provider-performed microscopy testing
- Troubleshoot technical issues and support continuous process improvement
- Provide technical guidance and training to laboratory and clinical staff
Schedule
- Permanent, full-time position
- 80 hours bi-weekly
- Primarily 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
- Flexibility for varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage may be required
