Weekend-Only Schedule | Thursday–Sunday
Night Shift | Rotating Weekend Coverage
A full-service acute care hospital located in Northeast Kansas, approximately one hour from Lawrence, is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) ASCP to join its laboratory team.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced Medical Technologist with recent acute-care hospital Blood Bank experience. The successful candidate will perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory responsibilities while supporting quality patient care and laboratory operations.
Please note: MLT candidates will not be considered for this position.

Compensation
- $29.00–$41.00/hour, based on years of experience
- $3.00/hour night differential
- $3.00/hour weekend differential

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform pre-analytic laboratory responsibilities including clerical duties, data entry, specimen collection, and specimen processing.
- Perform waived, moderate-complexity, and high-complexity testing on blood and body fluids in accordance with CLIA requirements.
- Perform laboratory testing within the Blood Bank and other assigned laboratory areas.
- Complete post-analytic responsibilities including test reporting and result verification.
- Investigate technical, instrumental, and physiological causes of unexpected laboratory results.
- Monitor quality control and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Correlate abnormal laboratory data with potential pathological conditions to determine validity and whether follow-up testing is required.
- Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents.
- Maintain non-analytic laboratory equipment including refrigerators, freezers, and centrifuges.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory work environment.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Assist with evaluation and implementation of new testing methodologies and instrumentation.
- Support laboratory data management and documentation.
- Assist with orientation and training of laboratory staff, including LTA, CLT, MLT, and Medical Technologist employees.
- Provide instruction on laboratory theory and procedures to clinical laboratory science/medical technology students as appropriate.
- Demonstrate professional work habits and maintain compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related science required, OR a bachelor’s degree with certification in an appropriate laboratory subspecialty.
- Candidates grandfathered as a Medical Technologist under CLIA '88 may also qualify.
- Medical Technologist ASCP, CLS (NCA), or appropriate specialty certification required, including applicable BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) credentials.
- Minimum of 1+ year of recent Blood Bank experience required.
- Acute-care hospital laboratory Blood Bank experience required.
- Experience outside of an acute-care hospital setting will not meet the requirement.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality and patient safety.
- Ability to work independently during overnight shifts and contribute effectively to a collaborative laboratory team.
- MLTs will not be considered.
