Medical Technologist (MT) – Night Shift | Southwest Florida

Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire
Third Shift | Rotating Weekends

A hospital located in Southwest Florida, approximately one hour south of Sarasota, is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) to join its laboratory team.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working overnight shifts with rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of Medical Technologist experience and an active Florida Technologist License.

Compensation

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate and timely clinical laboratory testing according to established procedures and quality standards.
  • Analyze proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete testing within established timeframes.
  • Perform STAT laboratory procedures while meeting established turnaround-time requirements.
  • Complete all required records and documentation associated with patient results.
  • Use sound judgment and independent thinking when correlating and interpreting patient laboratory results.
  • Perform delta checks and investigate discrepancies or unexpected results as appropriate.
  • Review pending and result logs and resolve outstanding workload or communicate necessary information to relief staff.
  • Perform quality control procedures according to established protocols.
  • Properly handle problem and critical laboratory specimens and test results.
  • Identify and communicate critical laboratory results according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and follow all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support department operations and assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the supervisor, as appropriate.
  • Follow laboratory safety, quality assurance, infection control, and compliance procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree / 2-year degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical Technologist experience required.
  • Active Florida Technologist License required.
  • Technologist license in one or more applicable clinical specialty areas.
  • Generalist experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
    • Blood Bank
    • Serology
    • Chemistry
    • Hematology
    • Microbiology
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and rotating weekends.
