Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) – Night Shift | West-Central Florida
Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire
Third Shift | 10:00 PM–6:30 AM
Rotating Weekends

A hospital located in West-Central Florida, approximately one hour north of Tampa, is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join its laboratory team.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working primarily overnight shifts with rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will have strong hospital laboratory experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.

Schedule

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Third shift: 10:00 PM–6:30 AM
  • 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts may be utilized based on department scheduling needs
  • Rotating weekends
  • Night-shift position
  • On-call responsibilities may be required

Compensation

  • $27.09–$37.92/hour
  • Salary range based on experience and qualifications
  • $2.00/hour on-call differential
  • $2.50/hour night differential
  • $10,000 sign-on bonus for night shift
  • Relocation assistance may be available on a case-by-case basis

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Process, evaluate, and analyze patient specimens while maintaining proper specimen identification and handling.
  • Review laboratory results for accuracy and identify abnormal or critical values.
  • Follow established protocols for result verification and reporting.
  • Perform quality control testing and document corrective actions as required.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Prioritize testing according to clinical urgency while maintaining appropriate turnaround times.
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory and clinical teams to support quality patient care.
  • Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, chemical hygiene, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and laboratory projects.
  • Assist with additional laboratory duties as needed to support daily department operations.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist experience required.
  • Hospital laboratory experience strongly preferred.
  • Must already hold an active Florida Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory license at the time of submission.
  • Florida license must be provided and included with the candidate’s submittal.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification preferred, as applicable.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, rotating weekends, and participate in on-call coverage as required.
