Micro/Molecular Medical Technologist - ASCP Certified

Job Title: Medical Technologist – Microbiology/Molecular
Location: East Providence, RI
Shift: Full-Time, 1st Shift (M-F + Rotating Weekends/Holidays, 7:30am – 4:00pm)

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Technologist with expertise in Microbiology and Molecular testing to join our team. This role involves performing, reviewing, and reporting laboratory tests to support patient diagnosis and treatment. The position emphasizes accuracy, quality control, and adherence to federal, state, and CAP regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of laboratory procedures independently, both manual and automated.

• Recognize potential pathogens vs. normal flora across specimen types.

• Conduct quality control, instrument calibration, and maintenance.

• Analyze and interpret test results and report findings accurately.

• Perform antimicrobial sensitivity testing and interpret results.

• Assist in specimen processing and microbiology tasks during high-volume periods.

• Participate in training, special projects, and evaluation of new procedures/products.

• Adhere to safety and regulatory standards.

• Communicate with physicians and staff regarding test results as needed.

Qualifications:

• Active ASCP or AMT certification.

• Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science.

• Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate’s Degree in a Science.

• Ability to work independently, methodically, and organized.

Physical Requirements:

• Extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.

• Ability to lift/move up to 15-20 pounds.

• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
