TITLE: Medical Technologist
LOCATION: Lexington, KY

Summary:
The Medical Technologist performs various clinical laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases by following procedures and operating equipment as directed.
Serves as leader and provides direction and supervision for laboratory staff, new employees and students as assigned. Demonstrates knowledgebase of hospital and laboratory policies.
Responsibilities:
Performs order entry, phlebotomies, and collects other specimens such as urine drug screens when necessary.
Performs laboratory testing in all areas of the laboratory to include Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Coagulation, Immunohematology, Microbiology, and Chemistry.
Performs routine maintenance tasks as designated for laboratory analyzers in all areas of the clinical laboratory.
Performs calibrations and quality control when required and is responsible for verifying the integrity of such testing.
Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
Performs proficiency testing and linearity testing as assigned to maintain accrediting body compliance.
Assists in keeping policy and procedure manuals up to date.
Assists in keeping supplies at adequate levels by completing weekly departmental inventories.
Participates in hospital wide and departmental performance improvement activities.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
Certifications: MT or MLS (ASCP) or MT (AMT) or MT(HEW) or MT (NCA)
ADDITIONAL INFO:
Position reports to the Lab Director.
There are a couple of openings: One is Night shift(5:30pm-6am) Mon, Thu, Fri and One is Mix of day, evenings, night and weekend shift. It is a full time position and schedule is made 4 weeks in advance.
Facility offers a range of $20hr-40hr depending on credentials/experience and a complete benefit package as well.
