Supervisor Health Information Management opportunity in Illinois!

-Primary Hours are 9 am - 5 pm
Job Summary: Coaches, supervises, and mentors the assigned Health Information Management staff. Assists and supports in the overall day-to-day operations. Coordination and evaluation of the budgeting process as requested by the Director of Health Information Management. Investigates and assists with the implementation of improvements to enhance operations both in efficiency and cost containment.
Education/Experience: Associate degreee in Heatlh Information Management (HIM) with RHIT or Medical Coding or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) with RHIA; 5-8 years prior field related experience or other job-related experience.
Job Responsibilities:
Creates staff schedules and ensures proper staffing levels to meet Hospital and Departmental goals
Assigns work assignments as needed
Coordinates and participates in the activities of the departments general technical functions
Identifies, coordinates solutions to HIM system concerns: recruitment, employee engagement, employer improvements, and counselling sessions
Assess and evaluates staff’s performance ensuring production and quality targets are met
Manages vendors and subcontractor partnerships
Develops, implements and follows department policies and procedures
Seeks opportunities for improvement in work process and facilitates methods of change
Actively assists and participates in establishing and maintaining the department’s and Hospital goals and objectives
Interviews, hires, trains, and orients new team members as requested by the Director of HIM
Exhibits and enforces a commitment to exemplary customer services
Ensures monthly staff rounding and monthly department meetings
Collaborates with team members and other departments or business units to achieve desired outcomes
Coordinates and participates in storage of documents on and off site
Supports system upgrades: Meditech priority packs with testing and validates staff training
Strong oral and written communications with providers, leaders, and staff
Ability to evaluate workflows and process improvements
Ability to work well in a team or independently
Knowledge of Medical Records including legal releases, confidentiality, and FHN’s policies
Knowledge of machine transcription and guidelines
Knowledge of Excel
Strong working knowledge of Release of Information process
Ability to multitask
Track and monitor charts and coding with Turn Around Time (TAT) and production
Knowledge of legal chart requirements and quality audits
Maintain strictest confidentiality
