Medical Laboratory Technician - (Med Lab Tech - MLT)

NY license, BLS, and ASCP Certification are all REQUIRED. Equipment is Manuel Gel and Vision. 2+ years of experience. 50-mile radius rule. No more than a 3-month work history gap in the last year.The Medical Technologist performs routine and complex procedures in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, serology, microbiology, urinalysis, and phlebotomy. A Medical Technologist obtains and receives specimens, performs clinical laboratory tests by standardized procedures, understands method principles, performs quality control, performs preventative maintenance, and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. The Medical Technologist works independently, organizes work to meet established deadlines, records all data obtained, and maintains job competence. The job also involves effective communication and interpersonal skills. The Medical Technologist will assume the responsibility of the supervisor in their absence. A Medical Technologist with HEW or ASCP certification and 3 years of experience, meets the CLIA definition for General Supervisor, and functions in this role for the following tasks as assigned: review of daily work, review of maintenance logs, review of quality control, annual review of procedure manuals, and initial review of proficiency testing. Regulatory Requirements: Registration as a Medical Technologist by ASCP or equivalent. B.S. degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related science from an accredited school. Non-traditional routes to establish skill level may be accepted after review of experience and education. Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Strong written and verbal skills. Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Excellent customer service skills.
