Job Description:

As a Biomedical Laboratory Officer in the United States Air Force, you will lead and manage our biomedical laboratory operations. Your role will encompass overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of laboratory activities critical to patient care, disease diagnosis, and medical research. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of laboratory professionals in conducting a variety of diagnostic and research procedures.
  • Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, supplies, and personnel, to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to integrate laboratory results into patient care plans.
  • Stay current with advances in laboratory technology and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain a culture of safety and excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor degree in medical laboratory related sciences or equivalent from an accredited university, and current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)* or certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

* Individuals who only have a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification are not eligible to apply.
