We offer you comprehensive, cost effective drug and alcohol testing options. Our laboratory services include urine drug testing, oral fluid drug testing, prescription drug testing, EtG/EtS alcohol testing, "synthetic marijuana" drug testing, "bath salt" testing, steroid testing, and more. We'll find out.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this Standard Procedure is to define the qualifications, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities and duties of the Licensed Testing Personnel ( Moderate and High Complexity).

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Licensed Testing Personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results.

The Licensed Testing Personnel shall perform only those testing procedures that are authorized by the Laboratory Director that require skill commensurate with the individual’s education, training or experience, and technical abilities.

Each Licensed Testing Personnel performing testing must;

Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of client test results;

Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instruments and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed;

Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance;

Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the Department Supervisor, General Laboratory Supervisor (Lab Manager), Technical Supervisor (Chief Toxicologist), or Lab Director;

Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

The Licensed Testing Personnel duties shall include but are not limited to the following:

Perform laboratory tests in accordance with laboratory standard procedures.

Reorder lab supplies, reagents, or consumables as authorized.

Calibrate lab equipment as required.

Follow all new and revised lab procedures as directed by the Department Supervisor, General Laboratory Supervisor (Lab Manager), Technical Supervisor (Chief Toxicologist), or Lab Director.

Document the calibration results for all lab test equipment as required.

Clean and maintain lab equipment to manufacturer specifications.

Provide assistance, training and support for Unlicensed Testing Personnel and new employees as needed.

As applicable, attend seminars and obtain training as necessary to maintain and improve professional knowledge and to satisfy state of California licensing continuing education requirements.

Perform any and all other duties as may be requested by the Department Supervisor, General Laboratory Supervisor (Lab Manager), Technical Supervisor (Chief Toxicologist), or Lab Director.

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Licensed Testing Personnel shall be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when:

All lab testing results are performed within expected turnaround times.

All laboratory standard operating procedures are followed.

Lab tests are performed with a high degree of accuracy (including proficiency testing).

The completion of work as specified in the principal duties is performed in a timely fashion.

A rating of “Meets Performance Requirements” or higher has been attained in two of the last three employee evaluations.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the position of Licensed Testing Personnel, the individual must possess a: M.D., D.O., or D.P.M. with current medical license in state of laboratory location, or; Doctorate in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or; Master’s degree in medical technology; laboratory science; or chemical, physical, or biological science or; Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science and;

Be licensed by the state of California under BPC, Chapter 3 as:

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Clinical Chemist Scientist

Clinical Immuno-hematologist Scientist

Clinical Microbiologist Scientist

Clinical Toxicologist Scientist

Clinical Laboratory Bio-analyst

Clinical Chemist

Clinical Microbiologist

Clinical Laboratory Toxicologist

Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Limited License

The Licensed Testing Personnel report directly to the Department Supervisor, General Laboratory Supervisor (Lab Manager), Technical Supervisor (Chief Toxicologist), or Lab Director.

The Licensed Testing Personnel have the authority necessary to fulfill the responsibilities and perform the duties required of the position.
