Seeking a full time Cytogenetic FISH Technologist to join an industry leading laboratory in Nashville!

JOB DESCRIPTION

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:30pm

JOB SUMMARY:

The person in this position is a licensed Medical Technologist (MT) who is responsible for day to day processing and analysis of specimen samples and assists in the leadership and supervision of department. The person in this position is a high performing Medical Technologist with an advanced skillset. The person in this position performs the most complex procedures, task, and analysis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs all duties of a Medical Lab Technologist II. Must perform standard procedures without assistance and display an above satisfactory level of clinical competency on those procedures.
  • Serves as project leader in the development and implementation of training, QA programs and department protocols.
  • Assists the Supervisor, Manager and Director with administrative functions such as ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
  • Validates new methods.
  • Handles CAP surveys.
  • Addresses client concerns.
  • Produces, interprets and reports accurate and precise test results.
  • Provides leadership and assistance to junior level techs with respect to problem solving and interpretation of difficult clinical findings.
  • Communicate pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager or other appropriate individual.
  • In the absence of Supervisor, identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or resulting reporting of patient samples.
  • Collaborates with other departments and subsidiaries when required.
  • Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry’s best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with other departments within and subsidiaries.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree required.
  • National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) a as a Medical Technologist (MT).
  • Must hold a valid Tennessee Medical Laboratory License.
  • Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification and licensure.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Over six years of experience as a Medical Technologist required including three years at a Medical Technologist II level.
