New Assistant Chief Medical Technologist OR Assistant Chief Technologist opening at a hospital in Maine. This full-service laboratory provides a full range of services including anatomic pathology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics and HLA (transplant lab). This laboratory is known to manage and execute all aspects of diagnostic analyses thoroughly, accurately, and quickly. This facility is a state-of-the-art environment with a fully-integrated laboratory information system and computer network. Their Centers of Excellence specialty technologists perform reference testing for other laboratories and some of the most intensive care settings in the state.

This is a permanent and full time position. Primarily second shift (with some flexibility). The Assistant Chief Technologist will supervise all technical and administrative activities including monitoring all procedures, quality control/assurance practices and proficiency testing programs in a manner that ensures the accuracy and validity of tests results in a timely fashion while also assuring compliance with the requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies. In addition, the Assistant Chief is responsible for select, train and schedule employees; monitor and evaluate employee performance; ensure staff completion of all mandated safety and compliance program and assist in long-range planning and budget preparation. Lastly, this is a working supervisor position so the candidate will also need to be able to work on the bench. For consideration, applicants must be ASCP Certified as a MT/MLS or MLT (or have an equivalent certification) - ideally candidates will have previous hospital-based laboratory supervisor or management position.
