Job Description
Join one of the most comprehensive blood centers in the world, looking for a Manager of their Quality Control Laboratory. Candidates must have at least 4+ years experience in Blood Bank and leadership.
Your duties may include the following:
- Testing cord blood cells and components for in-process, final product and pre-release quality control
- Oversee the operational and technical management of the Quality Control Laboratory, while ensuring the overall operations of the QC Lab meet all National Cord Blood program directives and regulatory standards
- Procedures include but are not limited to: sterility testing using automated VersaTRek System, automated cell blood counts (Sysmex XE2100), DNA extraction, PCR and real-time PCR assays, cell culture and cell functionality tests, ABO/RH typing and screening for Sickle Cell Hemoglobinopathies using HPLC
- Management of the biobank for DNA and plasma storage and distribution
You must have a Bachelors’ Degree in Biological Sciences or a related area, along with a 5+ years of laboratory experience in a NYS regulated environment. A NY State technologist license is required; ASCP as well. 3+ years’ experience supervising a team of 3 or more staff members in a lab setting is strongly preferred.
