Job Description

Overview

Our Therapeutic Security Technician Lead serves as a lead worker of a shift and provides direction to the Therapeutic Security Technicians (TSTs) in the specific building they are assigned. Trains and provides assistance with the resident programs. Assists the Operations Department as part of the overall plan of care based on the standards, policies, and procedures of the facility.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor degree preferred

Experience:

  • Three (3) years direct care experience in a forensic, correctional, mental health or hospital setting
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Ability to observe resident behavior and ability to report unusual occurrences
  • Ability to understand and implement rules, regulations and policies of the facility and the contract requirements of the client
  • Ability to accurately convey observations in writing in various reports and the resident clinical chart
  • Successful completion of agency pre-service and annual training
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate
  • Displays high standards of ethical conduct
  • Exhibits honesty and integrity while refraining from theft-related, dishonest or unethical behavior
  • Displays a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently Works with minimal supervision, demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to regularly work evenings, nights and weekends CPR training required
  • Ability to use computers and associated software used by the facility

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Certificate in a mental health or behavioral health program preferred; required after one (1) year of service in the position

Responsibilities

  1. Performs lead worker duties including oversight of other TSTs in the specific building they are posted with various work assignments; meets with Shift Manager, Shift Supervisor, and Unit Manager at the beginning of shift to report the status of unit and any uncompleted tasks; reviews status of residents on the unit with the clinical treatment team, and ensures that all assignments are covered and completed on time.
  2. Oversees TSTs daily responsibilities. Ensures that all log entries are completed properly.
  3. Completes daily rounds on each housing unit in the building they are assigned.
  4. Assists and oversees facility counts in the building they are assigned.
  5. Conducts safety and sanitation reviews by the end of each shift.
