Blood Bank Supervisor
Requirements:
LEVEL I or II Trauma experience in Blood Bank setting required
Experience with OB, Sickle Cell and neonatal patient population desired
TN Supervisor License Required
SBB preferred
Ideal Candidate must be able to perform the following:
ABO/RH testing and understanding compatibility for RBCs, FFP, CRYO, and PLT for different Blood Types
Weak D testing
Indirect Coombs: Solid phase, PEG, LISS, No Enhancement, Pre-warm technique
Antibody Identification
Crossmatches: Proper blood selection for ABO/RH and other RBC antibodies
Elution Studies
Antigen typing
Sickle testing
DAT
Fetal Screens
Thromboelastograph (TEG) testing
fFN
Donor Processing: Receive, Confirm Blood Type, Proper storage for each product
Modify Blood Components: Thaw, Pool, and Split (Aliquot) blood components
Dispensing Products: Single products, or Massive Transfusion Protocol
Shift/Schedule:
Second Shift (3pm-11pm)
Weekend rotation (Every other weekend required)
Technical Call (As Needed): In event the Manager is unavailable and needs technical guidance, the Supervisor will assist the staff by walking them through processes and procedures via phone call
Responsible for Supervising Second Shift Staff:
1 MTs, 2 MLT, and 1 MLA
Work Environment:
High pace work environment that services, Trauma OR, Trauma ICU, Chandler OR, Ambulatory OR, High Risk OB, NICU, and Sickle Cell Clinic.
Supervisor will be responsible for performing Blood Bank tests, along with assisting techs with technical questions on a daily basis.
Must be able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Administrative Functions (Systems):
Review antibody identification workups for the Staff
Staff scheduling (As Needed)
Transfusion Statistics: Wasted Products, Product Usage, Unknown Trauma Identification Tracking Form
Assist with Inventory Control and ordering Reagents and Supplies (As Needed)
