A hospital located in Eastern California, approximately one hour north of Bishop, is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join its laboratory team.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a versatile laboratory professional with strong generalist experience and microbiology experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working varied shifts and participating in required on-call coverage.

Compensation

• $57.00–$82.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing across multiple laboratory departments as a generalist.
• Perform testing accurately and efficiently according to established procedures and regulatory standards.
• Perform microbiology testing and related laboratory procedures.
• Process, evaluate, and analyze patient specimens while ensuring proper identification and handling.
• Review and verify laboratory results for accuracy.
• Identify abnormal, critical, and unexpected results and follow established procedures for investigation and reporting.
• Perform quality control testing and document corrective actions as required.
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records.
• Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to appropriate clinical personnel.
• Prioritize testing according to patient needs and established turnaround-time requirements.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain adequate supplies and reagents and assist with inventory management.
• Follow laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and compliance procedures.
• Provide coverage across laboratory departments as needed.
• Respond appropriately to on-call responsibilities and urgent laboratory needs.
• Perform other laboratory duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field required, as applicable.
• California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience required.
• Generalist laboratory experience required.
• Microbiology experience required.
• Strong knowledge of multiple clinical laboratory disciplines preferred.
• Ability to work varied shifts and rotating schedules.
• Availability for required on-call coverage.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking skills.
