Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician in Rural Idaho!

The MLS/MLT performs complex laboratory testing to support diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions. This role requires advanced analytical skills, sound clinical judgment, and strict adherence to regulatory and quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs complex and specialized testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, and transfusion services.
- Evaluates test validity, identifies abnormal or critical results, and ensures accurate reporting in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Runds and reviews QC, participates in proficiency testing, documents corrective actions, and maintains compliance with CLIA, COLA, and hospital standards.
- Operates, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory analyzers, perform routine and advanced maintenance, documents performance and service issues.
- Verifies proper specimen collection, handling, and processing; identifies and resolves specimen related issues.
- Communicate effectively with providers, nurses, and laboratory staff regarding test interpretation, workflow issues, and critical values.
- Follows all safety, infections control and chemical hygiene protocols; maintains accurate documentation for audits and inspections.
- Prioritizes testing based on clinical urgency; supports efficient turnaround times; assists with process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure immediate communication of critical (panic) laboratory values to the appropriate provider or clinical team so urgent medical intervention can occur without delay; Recognize laboratory values that meet the facilities defined critical thresholds and verify results accuracy before calling.
- Phlebotomy is a requirement.
Qualifications:
- AS/BS degree in medical laboratory science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required.
- Prior clinical laboratory experience preferred; new graduates considered based on training capacity.
- Must be ASCP or AMT certified
