Permanent and Full-Time Direct Hire
Day Shift | Rotating 4x10s | Shared After-Hours Call

A hospital located approximately one hour northeast of Pendleton, Oregon is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join its laboratory team.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a day-shift schedule with rotating 4x10-hour shifts and shared after-hours call. The ideal candidate will be a versatile laboratory professional with strong experience in chemistry, hematology, phlebotomy, and blood bank.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs clinical laboratory testing across multiple departments, including chemistry, hematology, and blood bank.
  • Performs phlebotomy and ensures proper patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, handling, and processing.
  • Evaluates test results for accuracy and validity and identifies abnormal or critical values.
  • Performs quality control testing and follows established laboratory quality assurance procedures.
  • Operates, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory analyzers and equipment.
  • Performs blood bank testing and related transfusion-service procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Communicates critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate provider or clinical team.
  • Works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follows laboratory safety, infection control, chemical hygiene, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Prioritizes testing based on clinical urgency and maintains appropriate turnaround times.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and supports efficient laboratory operations.
  • Participates in a shared after-hours call rotation and responds to callback needs within required timeframes.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or formal education in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Strong generalist laboratory skills across chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and phlebotomy.
  • Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a small hospital laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
  • Ability to participate in the after-hours call rotation.
  • Candidate must reside within approximately 30 minutes of the hospital due to a required callback arrival time of approximately 20 minutes.
