Job Description

Clinical Laboratory Scientist — Northern California near Lewiston

We are looking for a California-licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join a permanent team at a Critical Access Hospital in the mountains of Northern California. This is a full bench generalist role where you will perform, evaluate and document quality control across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank/transfusion and microbiology. Day to day you will be performing patient testing and reporting results within required turnaround times, troubleshooting and completing preventive maintenance on analyzers, communicating STAT and critical values to clinical staff, and performing microbiology functions including gram stains, culture setup, plate reading, organism identification and susceptibility testing. You will work independently with a high degree of autonomy and flex your schedule when staffing needs require it.

Schedule is four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday, 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Five weeks of PTO annually with rollover. Pay is based on your experience.

Requirements:

  • Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
  • Graduate of an accredited CLS program and internship
  • Two or more years of independent hospital generalist experience preferred
  • Current competency across chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology
  • Comfortable with analyzer troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and quality control
  • Ability to work independently on evening shift in a rural hospital environment
  • Willingness to participate in standby and callback coverage
