Job Description
Lab Director / Laboratory Director
Location: Memphis, TN area
Employment Type: Full-time, day shift
Responsibilities:
- Run day-to-day hospital lab operations, ensuring all sections are staffed, running smoothly, and meeting turnaround times
- Manage lab supervisors and staff, including hiring, scheduling oversight, coaching, addressing performance issues, and implementing discipline when necessary
- Ensure lab quality and compliance by overseeing testing accuracy, handling audits, and maintaining CLIA standards
- Own department budget, including operating and capital planning, cost control, and justifying purchases
- Make decisions on lab systems and equipment, including instrument selection, issue troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors/IT
- Act as the point of contact with hospital leadership, reporting performance, addressing operational issues, and aligning with hospital goals
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hospital lab leadership experience
- ASCP (or equivalent) certification required
