Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Location: East Machias, ME
Position Type: Permanent Direct Hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Your expertise will contribute to the accurate and timely analysis of patient samples, ensuring high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.

  • Prepare and process specimens for analysis, adhering to established protocols.

  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.

  • Record and analyze test results, identifying any abnormalities or discrepancies.

  • Communicate test results to physicians and other healthcare professionals promptly.

  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory records and documentation.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Collaborate with team members to improve laboratory processes and patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field (for MLT); Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field (for MT).

  • Certification by a recognized accrediting agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).

  • Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems and electronic health records.
