What they’re looking for:
• Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Lab Science required
• Experience as a Lab Generalist (Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Micro) required
• At least 3 years of supervisory experience required
• Epic Beaker experience a plus
Hours and compensation potential:
• The position is full time Monday-Friday.
• The range is between $39.58hr-$53.21hr depending on experience.
• The facility offers a full benefit package.
What you’ll be doing:
• Manages designated areas of the clinical laboratory. Oversees daily operations, workflow, quality and staffing for all designated areas to ensure the laboratory services are meeting the needs of the patient, physician and other care providers.
• Performs and/or oversees the monthly scheduling, making sure all shifts are covered appropriately. This includes effective management of daily staffing dynamics.
• Responsible for compliance with CAP and HFAP standards within all areas of responsibility. Evaluates all assigned areas of the laboratory on a yearly basis to ensure CAP readiness.
• Conducts laboratory staff meetings on a quarterly basis, inviting open discussion and proper follow up on pending issues.
• Supports education and provides development opportunities for employees to enhance their technical, professional and leadership skills. Serves as a preceptor and role model.
Additional info:
• Reports to the Lab Director whom was the Lab Manager before being promoted.
• Will oversee ~ 50 employees, 1 peer manager (Support Services over Phlebots); each Lab area (see below) has a Supervisor.
• Blood Bank prepares ~5,000 blood products annual for transfusion; uses an automated blood bank analyzer.
• Chemistry is fully automated; performs highest # of tests including general chemistries, drugs of abuse, tumor markers and cardiac enzymes.
• Hematology includes coagulation, urinalysis, fertility testing, body fluid analysis and provides technical assistance during bone marrow collections.
• Microbiology performs culture & sensitivity testing; high sensitive molecular test platforms added that allow for rapid detection of infectious organisms for flu, strep and RSV.
• Pathology (both Histology and Cytology) annually completes ~11,000 pap smears, 1,200 non-GYN specimens and 15,000 surgical cases; Histology added a system that ensure positive patient ID at every phase of tissue processing.
