We are a 24/7 department, three shifts, 7am, 3pm, 11pm. Position Summary: Decontaminates, cleans, package, sterilize, stores and distributes medical surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. Fills medical supplies from user areas. Essentials Duties: Ensures equipment is available for end users: Receives soiled instrumentation/equipment, soak, dissemble, clean, rinse, decontaminate, lubricate and perform routine preventive maintenance as required. Picks up soiled equipment/supplies from end users. Checks, test, and graphs data from equipment such as sterilizers, incubators, etc. Operate sterilizer, washer decontaminators, and ultrasonic washers. Performs computerize scanning, documentation, and tracking of equipment and instruments. Record equipment malfunctions, maintain department logs, i.e. sterilization records and equipment usage. Request repair services as required. Maintains accurate and complete sterilization records. Communicates relevant accomplishments and problems to the manager. Answers and route telephone calls and locate personnel by paging system or beeper. Assumes other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed. Minimum Qualifications: Working knowledge of surgical instrumentation processing techniques, medical supplies and proficiency in the following required: basic microbiology, soaps and detergents, fundamentals of cleaning and packaging sterile supplies, steam sterilization, sterrad sterilization, quality assurance, infection control techniques. Familiar with the setting up and restocking of surgical case carts and emergency exchange crash carts. Physical requirements involve lifting over (25) pounds, pushing and pulling carts. Often combined with bending, twisting, and long periods of time on the feet.
Required Qualifications
2 years experience in Sterile Processing
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Sterile Processing Tech (CRCST), or as a Surgical Technician (CCST) with Sterile Processing experience.
