Job Description

Nurses First Solutions, LLC is a healthcare staffing company that specializes in locum and permanent healthcare staffing for major, local, and national hospitals and home health facilities. We strive to hire the best possible registered nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals for our clients while building long-lasting relationships with our candidates! We are currently seeking motivated Medical Coders in McAlester, OK!

DUTIES:

  • Completes productivity worksheet be weekly to coincide with payroll, review with HIS Lead or HIS Director for any issues. Productivity standards should be 96%. If productivity falls below 96% over a three months, PIP should be initiated.
  • Reviews charts and identifies lack of proper documentation and queries physician for proper documentation and assign accurate codes with 95% accuracy capturing the severity of illness and risk of mortality on all charts. If accuracy is not maintained, PIP should be initiated..
  • Follows departmental policies and procedures and accurately performs tasks assigned by without any delay at least 96% of the time.
  • Assures that all services provided by the HIS department are performed accurately and in a timely manner within timeframes set by the facility HIS Code Lead, Director or CFO.
  • Performs essential duties, meeting deadlines and performs accurately and adheres to work schedule. May be asked to flex or change work schedule to accommodate workload..
  • Forward continuing education requirements to the HIS Lead/Director. Maintains licensure/credentials.
  • Works closely with CDI to ensure physician documentation is appropriate for coding. Offers feedback to HIS Code Lead/HIS Director and CDI with issues needing physician education.
  • Attends required department meetings.
  • Completes all other tasks as needed or assigned by HIS Code Lead/HIS Director.
  • Stroke Certification: Completes all necessary education and competencies to care for stroke patients in their unit and/or be a member of the MRHC Stroke Team. Continuing Stroke education hours as defined by core Stroke Team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma required
  • At least 1 year of coding experience preferred
  • Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA
  • Have experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel
