Job Summary:
Medical Assistants work alongside physicians, mainly in outpatient or ambulatory care facilities, such as medical offices and clinics. Medical Assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties. Duties will vary from office to office depending on location, size, and specialty. Administrative duties may include but not limited to answering phones, using computer applications, greeting patients, updating and filing records, coding and filing insurance forms, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.
Clinical Duties may include, but are not limited to, taking medical histories and vitals, explaining treatment procedures, preparing patients for examination/procedures, drawing blood, removing sutures and changing dressings, assisting physicians during exams, transporting patients, and accountability for keeping accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times
Qualifications/Experience
Graduate from an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
National MA certification
BLS from American Heart Association (AHA)
Working knowledge of medical terminology
1+ years of hands-on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
