Responsibilities
Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Medical Assistant with Corizon Health:
- Monitors patient vital signs
- Implements orders for diagnostic lab tests according to site policy and The Joint Commission and ACA standards
- Maintains inventory of supplies
- Assists the RN or LVN as needed in the medical unit within scope of practice
- Maintains confidentiality of medical records
- Documents in SOAP format all health-related encounters for patients
- Records EKGs as directed by nurse
- Assists physician with minor procedures
- Maintains and cleans medical unit/equipment on a daily basis and as needed
- Works in conjunction with the nurse to maintain daily duties required to run the clinic in an organized fashion
- Assists with maintaining SENTRY and CorrecTek recordkeeping
- Obtains specimens as directed and in accordance to policies and procedures within the scope of practice
- Utilizes infection control techniques in a consistent manner
- Attends mandatory monthly staff meetings
- Collects data for Quality Improvement programs, as assigned

Experience & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a medical assistant program from a vocational, technical or career school
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a health care setting, preferably correctional health care
- Maintain BCLS
A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
