A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Assistant to provide first-assisting support during complex surgical procedures within a high-acuity operating room environment.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside surgeons, nurses, anesthesia professionals, and other members of a highly skilled surgical team while contributing to safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The Surgical Assistant will perform first-assisting duties throughout the pre-procedure, intraoperative, and post-procedure phases of complex surgical cases. IIndeed

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform first-assisting duties during pre-procedure, intraoperative, and post-procedure phases of complex surgical cases

  • Assist surgeons with highly technical surgical procedures

  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies

  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and provide appropriate instruments and assistance

  • Maintain sterile technique and follow established infection prevention protocols

  • Operate and assist with surgical equipment, instrumentation, microscopes, and other specialized equipment

  • Support the surgical team throughout procedures while maintaining a strong focus on patient safety

  • Assist with surgical positioning, preparation, and other duties within the established scope of practice

  • Perform duties according to established policies, procedures, protocols, and surgeon instructions

  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia personnel, and other members of the operating room team

  • Help maintain an efficient workflow before, during, and after surgical procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education/training

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Surgical Assistant certification/credentialing as required

  • Experience assisting with complex surgical procedures

  • Ability to work a full-time rotating schedule

  • Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterile technique
