Recreational Therapist job in New Bern, North Carolina.

The job is a civilian position within the extensive military medical system. Civilian and military personnel work together in hospitals and clinics providing a full range of services to the active duty military service members, military retirees, and their families.

Recreational Therapist Job Overview:

  • Provide crisis assessment and safety planning
  • Develop treatment plans designed to restore, remediate and rehabilitate a person's level of functioning and independence in life activities, to promote health and wellness as well as reduce or eliminate activity limitations and restrictions to participate in life situations caused by an illness or disabling condition.
  • Develop and implement individual recreation programs based on assessment results.
  • Teach, coach, and support as required.
  • Work with multidisciplinary treatment teams to evaluate and review the care provided to patients.
  • Provide individual consultation to staff as requested.
  • Develop presentations to staff on recreational opportunities.

Recreational Therapist Job Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Graduate in therapeutic recreation or recreational therapy from an accredited college or university
  • Certification as a Recreational Therapist from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)
  • Experience: One year of experience as a Recreational Therapist after graduation.
