Job Description
Histology Technician (HT) – Full Time
About the Role: A hospital-based laboratory is seeking an ASCP-certified Histology Technician to join its Pathology Department.
Setting: Hospital with 50–100 beds
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform macroscopic and microscopic examination of tissues, preparing high-quality stained slides
- Conduct quality control, preventative maintenance, and tissue processing
- Assist with frozen sections and specialized procedures (e.g., special stains, bone marrow processing)
- Operate Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and maintain accurate documentation
- Support lab performance improvement initiatives, instrument maintenance, and workflow efficiency
- Train and mentor new staff, students, and support personnel
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in laboratory science, chemical, or biological sciences AND completion of an accredited HT/HTL program
- Certification: ASCP
- Experience: 1–2 years histology experience preferred
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, visual concentration, and excellent communication abilities
