About the Role

As a Histologist, you’ll be an integral part of the surgical pathology team, performing complex histologic procedures to support accurate, high-quality diagnosis and research. You’ll be responsible for preparing and processing tissue specimens using a full range of histologic methods, including embedding, microtomy, special staining, and immunohistochemistry. Working under the supervision of licensed laboratory professionals, you’ll help ensure timely turnaround of slides while maintaining high quality standards, safety, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform embedding, sectioning, staining (routine and special), coverslipping, and labeling of tissue specimens

  • Operate and maintain histology equipment such as microtomes, tissue processors, and stainers

  • Conduct immunohistochemical (IHC) staining and troubleshoot staining variability

  • Assist in gross room functions (as permitted by qualification) and specimen tracking

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with CAP, CLIA, and other regulatory bodies

  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control processes to maintain lab accreditation standards

  • Follow laboratory protocols and safety procedures while ensuring excellent slide quality and turnaround times

  • Assist in the training of new staff or students when needed
