Histology Tech
Start Date: Start date will be 2-3 weeks from offer
Will work Day shift, Monday-Friday 9:30am-6pm
NO ON CALL REQUIRED
This position works on the MUSC Charleston campus. No floating required.
Cert/Lic/Exp REQ: BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)
REQ: A bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology or other related scientific discipline and histotechnologist HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) and 3 years full-time experience.
First-timers are accepted - 50 miles radius rule applies at $4 less than the posted pay rate
Histotechnologist - Under direct supervision performs routine and complex histologic procedures in accordance with established procedures. Performs grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, immunohistochemistry, and frozen sectioning on human tissue to produce microscopic slides submitted for pathologists’ review. Performs quality control on completed slides. Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Records observations from tests. Documents maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab. Complies with established laboratory policies for universal precautions and safety.
