Job Description

Overview

Our Behavioral Health Specialists provides clinical and administrative services regionally based on facility and division need. Clinical service may include direct patient care for staff openings at the MH Professional level, and direct patient care and administrative and clinical direction to site MH team for staff openings at the MH Coordinator level. Clinical service may also include clinical consultation and program reviews for new sites, new behavioral health programs or in conjunction with a site improvement plan that requires enhanced clinical attention. Duties may also include monitoring the effectiveness of behavioral health services at identified sites. Must maintain effective relationships with The Company Solutions employees, the facilities, and other The Company clients.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Doctorate or Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Professional Counseling from an accredited college or university

Experience:

  • Five (5) years professional experience in providing direct clinical evaluation, treatment and consultation services
  • Experience in administering a behavioral health program within a correctional setting required
  • Extensive travel is required for the site coverage assignments;75%-100% travel

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice Psychology, Social Work or Professional Counseling in assigned states in which clinical services will be provided
  • Regional territories to be developed in cooperation with Chief of Behavioral Health Services

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for providing a full range of direct mental health clinical care as needed at various sites, including but not limited to intake assessments, crisis management, suicide risk assessments and clearances, special needs visits, individual and group treatment, segregation rounds/assessments, treatment plan development, after hours on-call services, and discharge planning services, including determining need to pursue involuntary treatment upon release if clinically indicated. Responsible to attend required treatment team meetings.
  2. Responsible for providing clinical and administrative oversight to a site team of mental health professionals if the duty assignment is to serve in a leadership role as the site Mental Health Coordinator. Duties include individual and team supervision as needed, completion of all administrative duties assigned to the Mental Health Coordinator position, participating in recruiting/candidate screening/interviewing in coordination with Health Services Administrator/Regional Manager to fill vacant positions. Responsible to notify assigned Regional BH Manager for site if need for additional clinical supervision is needed.
  3. Responsible to assist Regional Managers, site Health Services Administrators and site behavioral health team members in developing/updating, implementing and monitoring site specific policies and procedures for behavioral health services at assigned facilities.
  4. Responsible to coordinate with Chief of Behavioral Health Services to ensure that the behavioral health services offered comply with the standards of the American Correctional Association, the standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, standards of relevant state correctional associations, the policies and procedures of the Facility and in accordance with the ethics and standards of the relevant behavioral health professional associations.
  5. Responsible to coordinate with Chief of Behavioral Health Services, Regional Managers, and facility administrative staff to ensure the delivery of behavioral health services is in compliance with contractual agreements with The Company Solutions and with other The Company Solutions contracting agencies as assigned.
