Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for individual to join our client’s team as Infection Preventionist. You will ensure patient safety by preventing hospital acquired infections (HAIs) by: (i) conducting ongoing active surveillance of HAIs, (ii) interfacing with federal government infection surveillance systems, (iii) educating healthcare staff, (iv) leading hospital-wide patient safety and quality improvement initiatives, (v) consulting with clinical staff regarding communicability of diseases, evaluation and prevention of hospital infection through the monitoring of patient care practices, (vi) investigating communicable disease outbreaks through collaborations with the NYC & NYS Departments of Health, (vii) functioning as site manager for all activations of Bellevue's Special Pathogens Unit (SPU) (viii) and training of healthcare staff on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Job Description
- Conducts on-going infection control surveillance, prevention, and control program activities within a health care setting to identify early and/or suspected outbreaks of infections and communicable diseases, and to control and reduce the risk of exposure and avoid transmission by using epidemiologic principles.
- Ensures all in-house patients with communicable disease are reported to the city/state health department and maintains appropriate records.
- Reviews daily microbiology and virology reports for culture results that may represent HAI.

Education/Training/Certifications
- Baccalaureate degree
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
