Senior Cytogenetics Technologist

Location: Concord, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team in Concord, North Carolina. This role is responsible for performing advanced cytogenetic analyses, ensuring quality and compliance, and providing technical leadership within the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cytogenetic testing including karyotyping, FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization), and related molecular cytogenetic techniques
  • Analyze and interpret chromosomal abnormalities in constitutional and oncology specimens
  • Review and validate test results to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Train, mentor, and oversee junior technologists and laboratory staff
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Ensure adherence to CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist in method development, validation, and implementation of new assays

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Genetics, Medical Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Certification as a Cytogenetics Technologist (e.g., ASCP CG or CG(ASCP)) preferred or required
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of cytogenetics laboratory experience
  • Strong expertise in karyotyping and FISH analysis
  • Experience in oncology cytogenetics highly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
