  • Performs or assists in the conduct of specialized tests and studies; prepares written reports of vascular testing results for review and sign-off by vascular surgeon.
  • Receives patients and explains procedures to them to allay anxieties an obtain patients' corporation during performance of procedure; positions patient for specific procedures, as appropriate; obtain pertinent clinical history.
  • Monitors patients and equipment condition during procedure and reports changes to appropriate health care professionals.
  • When necessary, transport/accompanies patients, in safe, dignified manner, to and from designated areas; provides supportive care during procedures.
  • Establishes positives rapport with patients.
  • Communicate patient status to responsible health care personnel in a timely and constructive manner.
  • Participates in multidisplinary team meetings and/or relevant clinical forums as necessary and directed; contributes and relays pertinent information as needed.
  • Records patient's personal care and physical findings or other observations on prescribed electronic or manual forms/format.
  • Adhere to clinical guidelines and departmental, hospital and organizational policies and procedures (i.e., protocol for handling of critical results)
  • Participate in quality control procedures and quality assurance activities.
  • Assists in recruitment and retention of technical staff for the peripheral vascular lab.
  • Validate competency of technical staff.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor or designee.

Skills Required

  • One-year General Registered Ultrasound experience.


Education/Training/Certifications

  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by American Radiologic Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required.
  • BLS preferred.
