Ultrasonographer – Full-Time Days & Weekend Option | Vermont

Permanent & Full-Time Direct Hire
Ultrasound Imaging | Hospital-Based | Multiple Schedule Options

A hospital-based imaging department located in northern Vermont, approximately one hour from Burlington, is seeking an experienced Ultrasonographer to join its diagnostic imaging team.

This is a permanent opportunity for a skilled ultrasound professional with at least one year of experience. Two openings are available, offering different schedule options for qualified candidates. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic ultrasound skills, excellent patient-care abilities, and the ability to perform high-quality examinations in a hospital environment.

  • Opening 1: Full-time day shift
  • Opening 2: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Weekend schedule provides a three-day workweek

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established imaging protocols.
  • Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and explain examinations clearly.
  • Verify patient identification, clinical history, and examination orders.
  • Position patients appropriately for diagnostic examinations.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively.
  • Select appropriate imaging protocols based on the examination ordered.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians.
  • Perform appropriate measurements, calculations, and image documentation.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality and obtain additional images when appropriate.
  • Recognize and document relevant sonographic findings.
  • Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient and imaging documentation.
  • Follow established infection-control and patient-safety procedures.
  • Perform quality-control procedures and report equipment issues appropriately.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental, regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized imaging environment.
  • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional ultrasound and radiologic responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of previous ultrasound/sonography experience required.
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related ultrasound program.
  • ARDMS certification/registry or appropriate professional credential required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of ultrasound protocols, anatomy, patient positioning, and image optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  • Hospital-based or acute-care imaging experience preferred.
  • Strong patient-care and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to work the required day or weekend schedule.
  • Commitment to patient safety, diagnostic quality, and regulatory compliance.
